For nearly a century, Laura Canada has been a staple of women’s fashion and empowerment. Founded in 1930 by Laura Wolstein, the family-owned brand has grown from a single Montreal boutique to more than 140 stores nationwide under the Laura and Melanie Lyne banners. Rooted in personal service and meaningful customer relationships, Laura continues to blend style, confidence, and connection, offering a shopping experience that makes every customer feel seen and inspired.
As the company expanded, Laura recognized the need to unify its growing digital and in-store ecosystems. With eCommerce and physical retail increasingly intertwined, the brand sought a platform that could deliver real-time visibility, simplified checkout, and consistent client experiences across every touchpoint. By investing in Shopify Point of Sale and payments across its stores, Laura Canada established a unified commerce foundation designed to scale with the business and support the evolution of new retail services.
The transition has empowered Laura Canada’s teams to focus on what matters most: personal connection. Store associates can now access real-time inventory, client profiles, and purchase history, enhancing the signature one-on-one styling that defines the brand. The result is a more unified, responsive retail experience that honors Laura’s legacy of service while positioning the company for continued growth and innovation as it approaches its 100th year in business.

CQL built a custom Shopify POS application that allows each store to fulfill online orders for both the Laura and Melanie Lyne brands. When associates open the custom “Fulfill Orders” POS tile, they see a sortable list of orders assigned to their location, with clear color indicators that highlight orders aging past 12 or 24 hours. Associates can pick items, pack orders, or reject items that are not available. When an item is rejected, the system automatically splits the fulfillment and routes the remaining item to another store with inventory.
After items are confirmed, the app guides staff through packing and shipping. It supports multiple boxes, calculates shipping rates based on selected box dimensions, and generates shipping labels directly within POS. What once required multiple systems and manual steps now happens in one workflow inside Shopify POS, making fulfillment faster and easier for store teams.
“CQL played a key role in translating our operational needs into thoughtfully designed Shopify customizations that support real-world retail execution. We value the partnership we’ve built and look forward to continuing to evolve alongside Shopify as we expand our unified commerce capabilities.”
