New Yotpo Link Cartridge Integrated with Salesforce Commerce Cloud on the Storefront Reference Architecture

With online reviews and ratings playing a significant role in the consumer purchase process, Yotpo helps brands effectively collect all types of user-generated content and display them throughout the buyer journey to increase trust, social proof, and sales. Yotpo came to CQL, an agency specializing in custom software, e-commerce, and digital marketing, looking for ways to become more available to brands looking for ratings and reviews software. In an effort to achieve this, CQL developed a custom Link cartridge for the Storefront Reference Architecture (SFRA) on the Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) platform that would integrate with the business commerce site, thus allowing seamless integration for storing and presenting online ratings and reviews for a broader user base.
CQL’s goal was to deliver a Link cartridge that met the highest industry standards and could be redesigned to support the SFRA instance of Salesforce Commerce Cloud. To achieve this, CQL used a chunk-oriented approach to data feed generation. They developed code modifications, eliminated bugs, and refactored elements of the old cartridge and controller to deliver seamless integration to Commerce Cloud users.
For the CQL development team, creating the Link cartridge was about not only making a seamless integration into Salesforce Commerce Cloud, but also constructing a cartridge that could be implemented easily for the business. Achieving this brought up a unique set of challenges for the team.
“The largest challenge our team faced was the failure tolerance in the purchase export job. Yotpo has its own set of formatting requirements for attributes in their API which do not always align with what SFCC allows. We had to anticipate all the user inputs that would cause the Yotpo API to fail. By taking the chunk-oriented approach, we were able to combat these challenges and, in the end, create a custom Link that integrated seamlessly with Salesforce Commerce Cloud,”Mike Eldred

With the challenges overcome, the cartridge is available now on the SFRA. As for Yotpo, they’re thrilled with the Link cartridge integration.
