About the Job

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at CQL is responsible for the financial management of the organization, collaborating closely with other officers, executives and department leaders to optimize the growth and profitability of the business while maintaining control and security over its assets and reputation. The CFO will report to the CEO, and partner with them to build, align on and execute an expansion plan utilizing both organic growth and M&A activity.


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years in senior financial management roles
  • 5+ years in CFO or equivalent role
  • Professional Services Organization leadership
  • Technology services sector experience especially eCommerce, digital strategy, design, development and SaaS environment experience
  • Responsibility for managing relationships with key internal and external stakeholders such as PE or Venture Capital investors, banks, parent company CEOs, founders with active earnout deals
  • Experience in M&A activity including identifying and selecting targets, deal negotiation, due diligence, completion and operational integration of acquired businesses
  • Experience building geographically diverse organizations including offshoring (e.g. APAC), nearshoring (e.g. LATAM), remote and in person working
  • Experience scaling organizations from startup to mature businesses (for example from <100 to 500+ headcount)
  • Experience in scaled environment subject to compliance reporting and GAAP reporting preferred
  • MBA or equivalent business management qualification
  • CPA or equivalent international accounting qualification preferred
  • Excellent collaboration, communication and team-building skills

You Will

Financial Strategy and Planning

  • Develop and execute financial strategy aligned with the overall business objectives
  • Develop and lead the budgeting process, working with departments heads to establish revenue targets and cost budgets
  • Provide regular financial re-forecasts

Fundraising and Capital Management

  • Manage relationships with investors and lenders
  • Identify funding needs to enable execution of the growth strategy
  • Collaborate with Superstep to secure funding needs identified
  • Optimize capital structure to ensure efficient use of financial resources

Financial Reporting and Compliance

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and tax requirements

Risk Management

  • Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks
  • Implement internal controls and financial policies to safeguard company assets

Cash Flow Management

  • Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure the company’s liquidity and ability to meet financial obligations
  • Implement strategies to optimize working capital

Cost Management

  • Evaluate and control expenses to maximize profitability and efficiency.
  • Provide insights into cost-saving opportunities without compromising the quality of products or services.

Financial Analysis and Decision Support

  • Analyze financial data to provide insights and support strategic decision-making
  • Establish staff resource utilization and client project profitability targets
  • Develop systems and reports to enable close to real time tracking of actual versus target staff utilization and client profitability

Financial Leadership

  • Serve as a financial advisor to the CEO and other executives
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence

Deal Negotiation & Review

  • Establish process for client project estimate preparation including pricing based on standard hourly rates and project resourcing templates
  • Review pricing and discounts included in client proposals prior to submission
  • Where appropriate participate in negotiation with client on pricing and discounts
  • Review new vendor proposals and where appropriate participate in pricing and discount negotiations

Contract Management

  • In consultation with legal counsel establish and maintain templates for client, vendor and contractor agreements including NDA, MSA, SOW and ICA
  • Review agreements drafted internally to ensure commercially acceptable terms
  • Review contract terms drafted externally by clients or vendors in consultation with legal counsel where appropriate
  • Establish list of authorized signers for each form of agreement and ensure only those people sign such agreements

Tax Planning and Compliance

  •  Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company’s  tax position
  •  Ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements

Technology and Systems

  • Leverage financial technology and systems to streamline processes and enhance financial reporting
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in financial management
