UV Angel is a paradigm-shifting technology that actively monitors and disinfects targeted surfaces – taking disinfection out of busy hands. It is based on the concept of preventive decontamination and the science of antimicrobial UltraViolet-C.
After two years in development, UV Angel launched with the healthcare industry as its target. However, it has become clear that this product can be used on any shared computer or counter surface, dish stacks, or anywhere people are congregating and spreading bacteria.
This includes the growing number of kiosks, self checkouts and point-of-sale stations where endless numbers of people are touching a screen that is rarely disinfected.
Early on in the ideation phase, the inventor came to our business strategy team with a story about his recent experience during a routine physical. He had made a connection between the spread of nosocomial (healthcare acquired) infections and how infrequently computer surfaces are disinfected.
He envisioned a device using UVC to disinfect computer surfaces after software detects that the surface isn’t being used. The UV Angel device only acts when the keyboard is not in use and it emits the smallest amount of UVC that can still effectively disinfect without any potential for harm.
UV Angel's software and hardware applications actively monitor targeted surfaces. The device is designed to stay in the background and out of the clinician’s way. Once new germs are introduced, it eliminates the pathogen while recording its disinfection. All UV Angels continuously monitor device interactions, creating a safe environment for its automated disinfection process. Each interaction initiates or pauses a cleaning cycle:
Our software puts powerful data into customer’s hands. It gives the power to build specialized environments, record and report disinfection statistics - including possible contamination, down to the second. All the information syncs in real time in one place, and it can be accessed from anywhere.
